America, the beautiful, the home of the brave and land of the free
America is the freest place my ignorant eyes have ever seen
In America, I am free to rejoice or to despair
I am free to love someone, or act like I don't care
Here, I can worship my God, or any other for that matter
I can curse the Muslim and the Atheist; I can leave them shattered
I am free to speak my mind, to spew out repulsive opinions
Not only that, but I can have my group of pro-Trump minions
In the land of the free, I can be republican or democrat
I can be pro-gun, pro-choice, pro-pride, pro-cat
With the same tongue I use to sing "This land was made for you and me"
I can also tell you you're an idiot for stating how much better we could be
I am free to smirk, lie, or post unbearably long Facebook posts
And I'm free to drink to my fill and annoy you with my smoke
I can speak as ill as I want about my government and president
I can even vote him out and pick another president
Here, I know no communism, socialism, or totalitarianism
Here, I can be a proud patriot, standing up for capitalism
Those poor souls in North Korea will never know freedom,
But I have the freedom to do nothing for them, to withhold my freedom
I can be anything I want to be, including flaky and irresponsible
I can also be kind, gentle, proud, or hypocritical
In a single breath, I can say "Jesus is Lord" and "Trump won"
All the while ignoring what all needs to be done
I have freedom to speak evil against my authorities
I can even get my friends online to hate them with me
Freedom to party, to dance, to speak, to chew gum
Is much more freedom than some
America, the beautiful and oh-so-much better than others
America, the fallen, forgetting we are brothers and sisters
America, the proud, in all the worst ways
America, the free and home of the afraid
There is another kind of freedom, the kind
